Yellow uniform powder. Soluble in cold water, easily soluble in hot water to bright yellow, decomposes upon boiling. Soluble in ethanol to yellow. The dye powder is colorless in concentrated sulfuric acid, turns light yellow after dilution; orange in concentrated nitric acid; white precipitate in sodium hydroxide solution.
